I admit that I got a bit lazy and took a page from my catalog. But as long as they're all there, I suppose it's all right.
This is my second set of bookmarks for The Anime Planet Convention, featuring characters from the game series Megaman Zero. For these, I drew and colored the characters traditionally (using a mix of Copic and Prismacolor brand markers, with white gel pen for highlights), then scanned them individually and worked out the rest on Photoshop CS4.
As you can tell, I went for a simple, more abstract (?) approach: instead of just drawing a full body or even half a body, I decided to go for bust shots and certain elements to fill up the remaining space. Harpuia, Leviathan, and Fefnir are more obvious, since they each have elemental powers, but the other three I had to get a little more creative. I couldn't come up with anything for Zero, so I went with, well, 0 (the number). (My sis thought the BG was to represent his Boomerang Shield; I didn't intend that, but let's go with it, since it makes sense.) Phantom doesn't have a specific element, but I figured, since he was a ninja and became a soul in Cyberspace, his cape could be disappearing into the darkness. For Levy's symbol, I went with a teardrop-shaped icicle-thing, since ice and water are technically the same element in different forms.
Cyber Elf X's design was something I ended up improvising, due to lack of decent references, and a lack of desire to draw the wing-things on Copy X. I had a priest's robe in mind when I drew his armor. Additionally, he was originally supposed to have a "Cyber Elf" version of him underneath, but it didn't come out right traditionally, and I didn't know how to make it on Photoshop, so I scrapped it.
